Axon Unveils Body 5 Cameras With 25 Times the AI Processing Power Ahead of Nov. 5 Earnings
Axon announced the Body 5 and Body 5 Pro body-worn cameras with 25 times the AI processing power of earlier models; availability dates are pending, and Q3 results are due Nov. 5.
Axon Enterprise, the Nasdaq-listed maker of TASER devices and police body cameras, on Saturday, October 24, 2026, announced Axon Body 5, a new generation of body-worn camera that the company said delivers 25 times the artificial-intelligence processing power of its earlier cameras, according to a company press release. For the first time, the Scottsdale, Arizona-based company is offering its flagship camera in two versions: Axon Body 5 and Axon Body 5 Pro.
What the hardware adds
Axon said both models share four main upgrades: a new computing architecture with 25 times more processing capacity for AI features run directly on the camera; improved video, including better low-light performance; improved connectivity in urban and remote areas with more precise location capability; and 20% more battery life than the previous generation.
The company listed additional hardware features: a dedicated near-focus camera lens that lets officers scan driver's licenses to check status and search for wants or warrants without returning to a patrol vehicle, with information sent to the company's Axon Fusus real-time operations platform; four additional front-facing speakers intended to make real-time translations from Axon Assistant audible over traffic or crowd noise; and additional memory to run several AI tools at the same time. Axon said the Body 5 Pro will continue to gain new AI capabilities as they become available under its AI Era Plan, a software subscription package.
"Officers shouldn't have to choose between getting information and watching the scene. With Axon Body 5, they don't," Rick Smith, Axon's founder and chief executive, said in the release.
Guardian software features
Alongside the cameras, Axon described Axon Guardian, which it called a new category of AI features within the AI Era Plan built to work with officers' field devices, starting with body and in-car cameras. Two of the first features are:
- Escalation Detection: when an Axon Body 4 or Body 5 camera is recording, Guardian can detect potential conflicts in real time and create an alert in Axon Fusus; a human reviews the livestream and decides whether more support or action is needed.
- Approach Alert: when active on the Axon Fleet 3 in-car system, Guardian can detect if the door of a stopped vehicle opens and alert the officer through the in-car display and body-worn camera.
The release also cited existing AI products in Axon's portfolio, including Draft One, which turns body-camera audio into report drafts, and Axon Assistant, which provides voice-based information access and real-time translation. Axon said Body 5 and Guardian were designed with human oversight and agency control over data under its Responsible Innovation framework, with input from its independent Ethics and Equity Advisory Council.
Pricing and availability
Axon did not disclose pricing. The company said general availability dates for Axon Body 5 and Axon Guardian "will be announced soon," and that features and capabilities vary by configuration. Axon has scheduled a launch webinar for November 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. PT (1:00 p.m. ET), which it said will include a firsthand look at both cameras and demonstrations of Guardian.
Earnings and investor calendar
The product announcement comes less than two weeks before Axon's next financial update. The company said on October 22 that it will report third-quarter 2026 results after the market closes on Thursday, November 5, and host a live webinar to discuss them at 5:00 p.m. ET the same day.
Axon also said it will take part in several investor conferences in the following weeks: Deutsche Bank's Global Space and Defense Tech Summit on November 17, the RBC Capital Markets Global TIMT Conference on November 18, Needham's Virtual Tech Week on November 19, the UBS Global Technology and AI Conference on December 2 and Nasdaq's London Investor Conference on December 9.
About the company
Founded in 1993 and still led by its founder, Axon sells TASER energy devices, body and in-car cameras, drones, robotics, sensors, cloud software and AI tools to state, local, federal and international public safety agencies, the company said. It also serves an enterprise market that covers corporate security, hospitality, retail and healthcare.
