Alphabet, Microsoft and Amazon Headline 163 S&P 500 Earnings Reports in the Week Ahead
Alphabet and Microsoft report after the close on Wednesday, Oct. 28, and Amazon on Thursday, Oct. 29, in a week when 163 S&P 500 companies are scheduled to post third-quarter results.
Three of the largest U.S. technology companies are scheduled to report quarterly results in the coming week, at the center of the busiest stretch of the third-quarter earnings season. Alphabet and Microsoft report on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, and Amazon follows on Thursday, October 29. In all, 163 companies in the S&P 500 are set to report during the week, CNBC reported on Friday.
Confirmed dates for the three megacaps
Alphabet said it will hold its third-quarter 2026 conference call on Wednesday, October 28, at 1:30 p.m. Pacific Time (4:30 p.m. Eastern), and that the earnings release will be posted on its investor relations website before the call.
Microsoft said it will publish results for the first quarter of its 2027 fiscal year after the market close on Wednesday, October 28, with a live webcast of its conference call at 2:30 p.m. Pacific Time (5:30 p.m. Eastern).
Amazon said it will hold a conference call on its third-quarter 2026 results on Thursday, October 29, at 2:00 p.m. Pacific Time (5:00 p.m. Eastern).
The Alphabet and Microsoft reports land on the same afternoon as the Federal Reserve's interest-rate decision, which is due at 2:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, according to CNBC's calendar.
How the stocks traded into the reports
Alphabet shares fell more than 5% over the past week, while Amazon and Microsoft each declined about 1%, according to CNBC. The reports follow results from Meta Platforms and Tesla that drew what CNBC described as a surprisingly poor reception. Meta's stock fell more than 9% for the week after the company reported negative free cash flow for the first time since its public debut, and on Thursday the spread on Meta's five-year credit default swaps reached an all-time high, the network said. Tesla ended the week up about 5% after initially falling on its results.
Mark Mahaney, head of internet research at Evercore, told CNBC that investors were concerned the next hyperscalers to report could disclose heightened capital spending, perhaps by as much as $100 billion. Mahaney also said the recent decline may mean some of that concern is already reflected in share prices. "The market fear is now in the stock," he said.
Within technology, performance has diverged in October. CNBC reported that semiconductor stocks were down more than 15% for the month and memory stocks more than 20%, the "Magnificent Seven" group was down more than 2%, and software stocks, cybersecurity names in particular, were on track for monthly gains. As of Friday, the Nasdaq Composite was on pace to end October down more than 3%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average was on track for a gain of nearly 3%.
The season so far
Of the S&P 500 companies that had reported third-quarter results through Friday, 82% had beaten expectations, and the index is on track for earnings growth of roughly 30% from a year earlier once all results are in, according to CNBC.
