U.S. spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded $643.2 million in net outflows on Friday, October 30, 2026, their largest one-day withdrawal since June, according to Farside Investors data cited by crypto.news. The final session of the month erased four straight days of inflows and pushed both the week and the month of October into net outflows.

Bitcoin traded at about $77,281 as of 7:14 a.m. ET on Saturday, October 31, according to Yahoo Finance data. That was about 7.5% below its October 1 opening price of $83,554 on the same data. Ether was near $2,242 and BNB near $703 at the same time.

Friday's withdrawals by fund

BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) led Friday's withdrawals with $233.7 million, followed by Fidelity's FBTC at $201 million and ARK 21Shares' ARKB at $129.5 million, crypto.news reported. Grayscale's GBTC recorded $53.3 million in outflows, and Bitwise's BITB lost $25.7 million. None of the other bitcoin products tracked recorded a positive flow that day.

The three largest withdrawals together accounted for $564.2 million, or roughly 87.7% of the day's total. Friday's figure narrowly exceeded the $635.6 million withdrawn on October 22. Farside's records show a larger $691.7 million outflow on June 25.

Week and month in the red

Before Friday, the funds had taken in $440.8 million from October 26 through October 29, with daily inflows of $110.3 million on Monday, $176 million on Tuesday, $137.3 million on Wednesday and $17.2 million on Thursday. Friday's outflow left the week with net withdrawals of $202.4 million. The previous week, October 19 to 23, had ended with $301.2 million in net inflows, according to crypto.news.

Adding Farside's rounded daily totals, October's net outflow came to $515.9 million; the month had been positive by $127.3 million before the final session. IBIT still drew about $932.1 million for the month, while the remaining bitcoin funds collectively lost about $1.45 billion. A separate tally by TFTC put October's net outflow at $515.0 million across 22 trading days, with 13 days of inflows and nine days of outflows, and showed Fidelity's FBTC with the largest monthly outflow at $754.6 million.

Since their January 2024 debut, U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs have accumulated $57.048 billion in net inflows, crypto.news reported, citing Farside. IBIT's cumulative intake stood at $66.31 billion, while GBTC had recorded $28.049 billion in net withdrawals.

Ether funds post another losing week

U.S. spot ether ETFs lost $155.7 million on Friday, bringing combined bitcoin and ether fund outflows for the day to $798.9 million. BlackRock's ETHA accounted for $76.6 million of the ether withdrawals. Ether funds had outflows in every session from October 26 to 30, totaling $431.4 million for the week, and their rounded daily totals add up to about $1.61 billion in net outflows for October, according to crypto.news.

In its October 28 report, blockchain analytics firm Glassnode estimated the average purchase price of bitcoin held by U.S. spot ETFs at $81,500, above where the cryptocurrency traded on Saturday morning, crypto.news reported.

Binance sets out recovery steps

The outflows came as Binance worked to restore withdrawals following a security breach with an estimated $6.3 billion impact. In a second security update on October 30 signed by co-CEOs Yi He and Richard Teng, Binance said it had reserved more than $6.34 billion in company funds to cover losses, including $5 billion already held in the affected tokens, matching about 80% of the losses, Cryptonews.net reported. The exchange said it aimed to begin restoring withdrawals in phases within about 34 hours of the update, subject to security checks, while deposits continued to operate.

"Binance will absorb the financial impact of these stolen funds, not our users," the update said. Binance reported that about $3 billion had been frozen on-chain and said it had found no evidence that wallet private keys were leaked. The exchange planned an initial proof-of-reserves snapshot, with results expected by Monday, November 2, according to Cryptonews.net and PANews.
