Meta's Messaging Platform WhatsApp Faces Technical Glitch, Impacting Users Worldwide
Meta Platforms-owned WhatsApp experienced a widespread outage on Wednesday, disrupting service for thousands of users, as per reports from outage tracking website Downdetector.com.
According to Downdetector's data, over 17,000 incidents were recorded, indicating issues with the messaging platform. Downdetector collects outage information from various sources, including user-submitted error reports.
The disruption was not limited to a specific region, with users across different countries reporting problems. In India, more than 30,000 users encountered issues, while over 67,000 users faced difficulties in the United Kingdom. In Brazil, the outage affected approximately 95,000 users.
The cause of the outage and the timeline for service restoration remain unclear at the time of reporting. WhatsApp users are advised to monitor official updates from Meta Platforms regarding the ongoing situation.
