Amazon Launches AI Tool Amelia to Help Sellers with Automation

Amazon is launching a new artificial intelligence (AI) tool designed to help its independent sellers manage their businesses more easily. This tool, called Amelia, will assist sellers with tracking their sales, managing inventory, and promoting their products. This step is part of Amazon's broader plan to use AI technology for increased automation and efficiency.

Introducing Amelia: Amazon’s AI Assistant for Sellers

Amelia is an AI-powered tool that provides instant answers to sellers' questions about their business. For example, it can tell sellers how many products they’ve sold, how much website traffic they’ve received, and even offer advice on how to prepare for big sales events like the holidays.

In the future, Amelia will also be able to handle common issues, such as delayed shipments, without the need for human customer support. According to Dharmesh Mehta, Amazon’s Vice President of Worldwide Selling Partner Services, Amelia will give sellers a “personalized expert” that helps them run their business more smoothly.

How Amelia Benefits Sellers

The AI tool will allow sellers to get answers and solve problems quickly, which means they’ll spend less time dealing with customer service and more time focusing on their business. This could help Amazon cut down on costs as well, as fewer human customer support agents will be needed to assist sellers.

Since more than 60% of the products sold on Amazon come from third-party sellers, tools like Amelia are essential for keeping those sellers happy and productive.

Amazon's Growing Use of AI

The launch of Amelia comes after Amazon introduced another AI tool earlier this year called Rufus, a search engine that helps shoppers find products on the platform. Amazon is also improving its popular Alexa voice assistant by making it smarter and more conversational with the help of AI technology.

Amazon has been heavily investing in AI, spending $16.5 billion in the second quarter of 2024 alone. The company is committed to using AI to streamline operations and improve the experience for both sellers and shoppers.

Future of Amelia

Right now, Amelia will only be available to a small group of sellers, but Amazon plans to roll it out to most U.S.-based sellers over the next few months. While Amelia won’t be used by large brands like Unilever just yet, Amazon is confident that the tool will help small and medium-sized sellers manage their businesses more effectively.

As Amazon continues to innovate with AI, sellers can expect more tools and services that make running an online business easier than ever before.
